How I work
Start with the work in front of you.
A bigger role changes what needs your attention. I work with new directors on the decisions, relationships and habits taking shape in their first year. We start with something you need to do this week, then come back to what happened.
When I was promoted to run a larger site, I kept doing my old job because I was good at it. My team waited for decisions. I could not have said in two sentences what the new role was for. Then an experienced director asked me three questions: what does this role need from you, who do you need to get it done, and when do you think?
Those questions still shape the work. I ask, offer a framework when it helps, and say plainly when something is being put off. You decide what to do. Each session ends with one small next step, and the next one begins with how it went.
