A programme for new leaders

For organisations with four to eight new or recently promoted leaders. Written like the proposal you would receive, so you can check the shape before a call.

The sponsor question

Which decisions should your new leaders be making in their first year, and what support helps them make those decisions well? We start from your answer, then agree what each participant wants from the programme in their own conversation.

02

Programme shape

  1. Sponsor briefing60 minutes
  2. Four workshops3.5 hours each
  3. Private sessionsNone, two or three per leader, 75 minutes each
  4. Closing review60 minutes, an assumption to agree

Two private sessions16.5 contact hours per leader
Three private sessions17.75 contact hours per leader

Shape a cohort

How much time would each leader get?

Pick a sample cohort: four 3.5-hour workshops, plus the private sessions you choose, over about six months.

Sample cohort

16.5 h of contact time per leader over about six months

Workshops
Four of 3.5 hours: 14 h per leader
Private sessions

03

Four workshop themes

  1. Role clarity. What the role must deliver and how success will be judged.
  2. Influence and stakeholders. Getting things done through people who do not report to you.
  3. Delegation and team decisions. Which decisions the team can make without escalating.
  4. Capacity and thinking time. A workload each leader can keep up, with time to think.
04

Coaches and fit

Tessa leads every programme with one or two associates, Mara Fenwick and Rowan Hale, agreed in the proposal. Workshops run by video, at your premises, or in a hired room near Farringdon or the Barbican. Each participant has a short conversation with their proposed coach before accepting. If the fit is wrong later, we pause and discuss a change. We cannot promise a choice of three coaches or an instant replacement.

05

Reporting and supplier checks

Sponsor reports cover only agreed attendance and safe shared themes. Private notes, individual scores and identifying themes are never a deliverable. In a small group, themes may be left out entirely.

What shapes the quote

Fees are quoted per company after a scoping call. The quote depends on:

  • the number of leaders and private sessions;
  • workshop design and preparation;
  • how many coaches the programme needs;
  • reporting you would like agreed;
  • the venue, access needs and any travel.

The proposal shows the fee excluding VAT, VAT at 20%, and the total including VAT. This site never calculates a company fee.

Questions from HR and L&D leads

Can we have more than eight leaders?

The model covers four to eight. For a larger group we discuss scope, usually two cohorts with a second associate, and the proposal sets out the shape.

What will the sponsor see?

Agreed attendance and safe shared themes, in the format set out in the three-way agreement. Private notes, individual scores and identifying themes are never a deliverable.

Who coaches our leaders?

Tessa leads every programme. One or two associates join where the cohort needs them, and each participant meets their proposed coach before accepting.

How is the fee worked out?

After a scoping call, from the number of leaders and private sessions, workshop design, coach staffing, reporting, venue and travel. The proposal shows the fee excluding VAT, VAT at 20% and the total.
